State officials have agreed to a proposal by several northwest suburbs to widen the intersection of Illinois Highways 62 and 25 to reduce traffic congestion on a principal commuting route between McHenry and Cook Counties.
The $250,000 to $300,000 project, which includes the addition of left turn lanes and new traffic signals, could be completed next year, said James Slifer, district engineer for the Illinois Department of Transportation.
