Leo found itself thinking about St. Rita, next week`s opponent, while facing Weber Saturday night at Hanson Stadium. And as a result the Lions were fortunate to escape with a 20-9 decision.

”I think they learned a lesson,” said Leo coach Bob Foster. ”This will teach them that in the Catholic League you have to concentrate on each game. St. Rita is always a big game for us.”

After Weber cut its deficit to 6-3 on Frank Matijevic`s 33-yard field goal with 7:52 left in the third quarter, Leo`s methodical offense went to work. The Lions drove 62 yards on 17 plays and took 7:41 off the clock to score on Corey Rogers` 5-yard run with 11:24 left in the game.
