And you thought Godzilla was a monster. That overgrown lizard is nothing compared to Japan`s latest colossus-a 1.88-inch roach, crowned Wednesday as the world`s largest.

It beat out more than 1,000 international entries for the title in a Combat Roach Control contest.

The winning bug, from the Japanese island of Okinawa, measured the same as last year`s 1.88-inch winner from New York City.
