James Wall, in discussing Moslem rage against the West, makes a number of fallacious points on the op-ed page.

Wall claims ”there was no indication that he (Hussein) intended to invade Saudi-Arabia.” The fact is that the indications of an invasion were so strong that the Saudis reversed a long-held policy and welcomed U.S. troops.

Wall also quotes Bernard Lewis that secularism and modernism (i.e., Western nations) have ”robbed them (the Arabs) . . . to an increasing extent of even their livelihood.” The fact is that much of the wealth, power and jobs the Arabs have are due to Western oil technology and oil markets.

Instead of blaming the West for ”Moslem rage,” we need to examine Arab tendencies to extreme intolerance, violence and use of the big lie.
