Saying that the collection of unpaid debts to the state would be her top priority, Republican candidate for comptroller Sue Suter Thursday unveiled a program to recoup millions of dollars from ”deadbeats.”

In appearances in Springfield, Chicago and Rockford, Suter said that Illinois citizens ”want a government that spends as much time collecting debts from deadbeats as it does collecting their taxes.”

Among other reforms, she said she will take an aggressive leadership role in the newly created state debt collection board and reorganize the comptroller`s office to consolidate the debt-related activities.
