Republican U.S. Senate candidate Lynn Martin began a four-city swing through Illinois on Thursday to talk with voters about education, senior citizen care, agriculture, campaign reform and other issues.

Martin, the five-term congresswoman, was scheduled to travel to Moline, Peoria, Bloomington and Springfield.

Her opponent, Democratic U.S. Sen. Paul Simon, is in Washington and campaign aides say he will remain there until the Senate completes its work.
