I would suggest that your editorial on Colorado`s fifth-down victory over Missouri missed commenting on an even better story.
It is true that Cornell did beat Dartmouth in 1940 on a fifth down.
However, it was not until the Monday morning after the game, when the developed movies (no TV then) proved that Cornell had actually had a fifth down, that President Edmund ”Ezra” Day of Cornell forfeited the game to Dartmouth in spite of football coach Carl Snavely`s violent objections. Cornell was undefeated that year except for that game.
More interesting, I think, is the fact that President Day of Cornell was a Dartmouth alumnus.
The Cornell Daily Sun`s headlines on Tuesday were ”President Day a Traitor.”
