Leonard Bernstein was a great musician and a wonderful man. While I was a student at the Chicago Conservatory, several of us argued about the correct pronunciation of Bernstein. We wrote to the great maestro, asking him to please settle our argument.

A few weeks passed and then one day a postcard arrived at our school reading, ”Dear Chicago Conservatory students, My last name is pronounced as in a large glass of beer! Warmest Regards, Lenny B.”

Maestro Bernstein touched many people in many ways.
