We are deeply distressed that the money to fund the reimbursement of several education programs will be delayed several weeks. Insufficient balances in the state`s general revenue fund have been cited as the reason.
The State of Illinois has informed the public schools that payments will be delayed for six programs, two of which are transportation and special education personnel. Nevertheless, the school districts will need to pay their bills promptly. They will not be able to send a letter to the bus companies or the special education personnel saying, ”Sorry, we can`t pay you this week;
we`ll send money in two or three weeks.”
