– Janelle Crabtree, Wheaton North-The senior scored 83 points in three victories, including a career-high 34 Thursday against Niles West.
– Michelle Russell, Dundee-Crown-The senior guard had a 32-point average for two games, plus 14 rebounds and nine assists in a win against Grant and loss to Larkin.
– Sue Will, Oak Forest-The senior guard had 33 points, six rebounds, four steals and four assists in a victory over Lockport.
SWIMMING
– Jennifer Greable, New Trier-Greable`s state championship time of 1:05.42 in the 100-yard breaststroke further established her as the state`s premier freshman. Greable also finished third in the 200 individual medley (2:07.33). – Chandra Littooy, Hinsdale Central-After failing to qualify for state in 1989, the sophomore won the 100 backstroke state title in :58.45. She also swam a leg of the Red Devils` championship 400 free relay.
– Greta Steffenson, Hinsdale Central-The junior was the dominant figure in the Red Devils` successful pursuit of the state championship. She won the 200 freestyle in 1:52.00, finished second in the 500 free in 4:59.43 and anchored the 200 and 400 freestyle relays to championship performances.
– Heidi Toft, Evanston-The senior won her first individual state title, swimming :23.78 in the 50 freestyle to edge defending champion Tina Hinton of Mt. Zion (:23.79).
FOOTBALL
– Mike Alstott, Joliet Catholic-The senior running back had 150 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries to help Joliet beat Leo 27-12 Saturday.
– Bryon Koepke, Mt. Carmel-The senior end caught a 43-yard touchdown pass with 3:53 left Saturday to give Mt. Carmel a 15-12 victory at Bloomington.
– Jack Prikos, Loyola-The senior running back carried 36 times for 238 yards and a touchdown Saturday in a 13-8 loss to Thornton.
