Although the split between languid love poems and hyper dance cuts on the Whispers` first release for their new label is even at seven apiece, they put a lot more heart into the ballads. The precise phrasing of twins Walter and Wallace Scott, who serve as the quintet`s frontmen, give romantic numbers like ”My Heart,” ”Mind Blowing” and ”More of the Night” an almost magical aura.
”In the Mood” seems to be an attempt by the Whispers` old label to cash in one last time on a departing act. The 11 previously released tracks included are meant to be a retrospective of the group`s love ballads. However, the cheesy conversion from analog to digital and the general poor selection of tunes make it a dubious investment for all but the most ardent fans.
