A Circuit Court judge on Friday ordered a recount of a Cook County Circuit Court judgeship from the city of Chicago that has remained contested since the March Democratic primary.
Judge Michael Murphy ordered a recount of all 2,911 city precincts, after a partial recount of 727 precincts by the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners showed that the 180-vote margin by Circuit Judge James Williams evaporated into a 244-vote victory for the challenger, Atty. Susan McDunn. The board`s discovery recount changed the total because of elimination of ballots that were not initialed by election judges.
