I am disgusted at the media treatment that has been given to the Army reservist who has now claimed she is a conscientious objector. The citizens in this country should be outraged that a person who has willingly accepted money for school, signed a contract and pledged allegiance to defend our country now decides to back off when America`s interests are in trouble.
Her lawyer has the audacity to call her a hero over national television and claim that her decision was moral. How can we as a people allow others to back off on obligations that are signed with consent?
I am also an Army reservist in a combat unit waiting for the day that I may be sent to fight in Saudi Arabia. Do I want to go? Of course not! Do I want to kill people? Certainly not. But I also know that I have a
responsibility when I sign a contract.
I am ashamed that the Army has not pursued this case harder. To give her a less-than-honorable discharge without having to pay back one dime is a slap in the face to the taxpayers in this country and to the brave men and women who are serving there now.
