The recent news that Matsushita Electric bought MCA makes for interesting reading. Of special concern are the lamentations that the acquisition once again demonstrates Japan`s appetite for American businesses. It should be clear, however, that these buyouts merely reflect the fact that MCA and other U.S. corporations hang out the ”For Sale” sign and simply sell themselves to the highest bidder.
