Neal Anderson begrudgingly sat out last Sunday`s game against Tampa Bay with a broken rib.

But don`t be surprised if the three-time Pro Bowler is in the lineup Saturday against Kansas City, even though the game has no bearing on the Bears` playoff fate. They will host either Dallas or New Orleans on the weekend of Jan. 5-6.

Anderson has had ribs broken twice this season.

”It is a different rib,” said Anderson. ”Same side, but a different rib.”

Which side?

”I can`t tell you which side because (the Chiefs) might be shooting at that side,” he said.

Anderson has already achieved the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season. He has run for 1,010 yards and caught 41 passes for 485 yards.

”That (1,000 yards) is always a mark that a running back shoots for,”

he said. ”We are the No. 1 rushing team in the league. So I`m sure that is a direct correlation to the offensive line.”
