Willowbrook has widened its curbside recycling program for single-family homes by now accepting bi-metal cans (steel and tin) and plastic soft drink, milk, water and detergent bottles in addition to its regular pickup of newspapers, aluminum cans and white, green and brown bottles. There is no additional charge for the added items. The village estimates that these added items constitute 20 percent of the waste stream.
