The Chicago Historical Society`s costume curator, Barbara Schreier, will talk about the role clothing played among Jewish immigrants in a lecture,
”Becoming American Women: Clothing and the Jewish Immigrant Experience, 1880-1920.”
Schreier`s slide lecture will explore the impact of American fashion on the immigrants, including ways it created tension between mothers and daughters.
Lecture at 2 p.m. Jan. 13 at the Historical Society, Clark Street and North Avenue. Suggested admission: $3 adults, $2 senior citizens and students, $1 children.
