Joe Nieuwendyk and Brian MacLellan each scored twice as the Flames extended their unbeaten streak to five games. Joel Otto scored the other goal for the Flames, 4-0-1 in their last five games. Kevin Maguire, Al Iafrate and Lucien DeBlois scored for the Leafs in the third period after Calgary had taken a 5-0 lead. The Leafs finally got a puck past goaltender Mike Vernon at 3:25 when Maguire redirected a cross-ice pass by Dave Reid on a power play.
