An article in the Chicagoland section of Dec. 30 refers to John Cox as a devout Catholic who supports abortion rights. There is no greater
contradiction. You should have said Mr. Cox is a ”defective” Catholic.
The pope and many bishops have declared that Catholics who publicly dissent from the church`s teaching on abortion have, ipso facto, separated themselves from the Catholic community. Those bishops who have not joined in such a declaration are themselves defective in their roles as teachers.
