On behalf of Beatle fans everywhere, I must comment on David McCracken`s comments on Ringo Starr: He can`t hold a candle to Ringo. He resembles Barbra Streisand more than he does Ringo.
The other three Beatles have all said in interviews that Ringo was a better musician than anyone thought he was.
No, he isn`t a great songwriter and he can`t sing well. Still, I wouldn`t begrudge him his success. They were a group! Each one brought something special to it. Ringo brought a kind of laid-back quality to the Beatles. He was the coolest Beatle.
Mr. McCracken`s comments were rude, embarrassing and self-indulgent. Who cares if he shaves his beard? Or his head for that matter?
While Mr. McCracken claims he`s ”not interested in clutching at 15 minutes of fame,” I think that`s exactly what he`s after-at Ringo Starr`s expense.
