Greg Kot, Tribune rock music critic, described Vanilla Ice`s recent Chicago performance as ”fumbling” through renditions of rap and merely
”. . . appropriating the rhythms and slang of the inner city . . .” because he, unlike blacks, does not have the ”. . . affinity for the street.”
I am deeply offended by Kot`s bigoted comment. I say unequivocally that white rock groups can sing degrading and offensive lyrics every bit as well as any black rock group.
