– Wauconda Sectional-Driscoll (22-5) overcame a poor shooting night (23 of 62 from the field) to defeat Wheaton St. Francis 62-46 for the right to meet Aurora Central Catholic in Friday`s title game.

Driscoll`s Mike Vavrek led all scorers with 20 points. Forward Kevin Zaleski added 16 points. The Spartans (17-11) shot just 14 of 46 from the field and missed their last seven shots.

– Seneca sectional-Mark Aubry poured in 40 points and Jason Vertin added 14 to lift host Seneca (23-4) over Bishop McNamara 88-66. Seneca faces Illiana Christian (19-10) in the title game at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

– Spring Valley Hall sectional-Jon Blackman scored 30 points and Andy Kick 15 as Yorkville (18-11) built a 31-30 halftime lead and held on to edge Buda Western 65-60. Ryan Younggren had 15 for Buda Western (15-11). Yorkville will meet Spring Valley Hall (19-8) in the title game at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

PUBLIC LEAGUE

– King 69, Dunbar 65-The No. 3-ranked Jaguars didn`t exactly pick up where they left off Wednesday. When the two teams met two weeks ago, King left the Dunbar gymnasium sky high and trading high fives after a thunderous Rashard Griffith dunk shattered the backboard and abruptly ended the contest with King leading 37-31.

Wednesday, the Jaguars (24-1, 13-0) increased that lead to as much as 13 points (55-42) before having to come from behind to beat their longtime Red-Central rival.

”They had the advantage today,” said King coach Landon ”Sonny” Cox.

”We`re the kind of team that uses a lot of people and wear you down. With the delay, all their guys were fresh and able to come back.”

Not exactly.

Dunbar star foward Derrick Patterson sat out until only 2:06 remained in the game with four fouls. When Patterson entered the contest, the Mighty Men trailed 60-59. Patterson scored four of the next six points, which gave Dunbar its only lead of the second half at 65-64.

Griffith led King with 20 points and 9 rebounds, Thomas Hamilton had 18 points and 8 rebounds and Sylvester Ware had 10 points.

Paris Parham topped Dunbar (14-12, 7-6) with 17 points and Shomari Legghette had 16.

– Simeon 84, Calumet 50-Derrick Eskridge finished with 20 points and Delvon Harris 14 as No. 13 Simeon (18-4, 10-2) built a 35-23 halftime lead and coasted in the Red-South.

– South Shore 71, Hyde Park 58-South Shore (18-8, 9-3) built a 35-26 halftime lead and held on in the Red-South behind Seandell Carter (19 points) and Fred Smith (15). Tony Long had 17 for Hyde Park (13-10, 6-6).

– Farragut 74, Young 67-Theodis Owens (22 points) and Twon Jones (18)combined for five three-pointers in the second half as Farragut (13-11, 4-8) rallied from a 28-28 halftime deadlock in the Red-West. Marcos Martinez added 17 for Farragut. Cedric Tillis had 20 for Young (13-12, 4-8).

– Manley 81, Flower 53-Lee Williams led six players in double figures with 16 points as Manley (14-11, 11-3) cruised in the Blue-West. Ed Hodges had 14 and Anthony Ellis and Lewis Buckley 12 apiece. Shantrell Tucker and Greg Turner

(13 each) topped Flower.

– Orr 83, Austin 66-George Jones (31 points, 16 rebounds) and Dwayne Funches

(20 points) led the way as Orr (23-4, 12-2) claimed the Blue-West title outright. Troy McGee had 20, Albert Dixon 19 and Angelo Grady 14 for Austin

(14-9, 10-4).

– Lincoln Park 115, Wells 74-Diamond Dyer (43 points, 17 rebounds), Maurice Carter (20 points) and Drake Brown (15) guided Lincoln Park (20-6, 11-3) to the No. 2 spot in the Blue-West.

– Cregier 71, Metro 51-Maurice Reddick had 34 points as Cregier (8-15, 6-8)

breezed in the Blue-West.

– Bowen 70, Morgan Park 67-Terrance Rone had 33 points to lift Bowen (16-11, 9-5) in the Blue-South. Stacy Baker had 28 for Morgan Park (6-19, 3-11).
