Nolan Ryan has been driving batters crazy for years. Now those batters can drive the Ryan.
The Texas Senate voted 28-3 Tuesday to name state Highway 288 from the Brazoria County line to Freeport the Nolan Ryan Expressway.
Why this highway?
Well, it passes Ryan`s hometown of Alvin. And, according to Sen. J.E.
”Buster” Brown, ”This is the only one people drive 92 miles per hour on.”
”I`m kidding,” said Brown (R-Lake Jackson). ”Nolan Ryan has been called the Nolan Ryan Express, and I think that`s the reason.”
”There are few people who are alive that I would name anything for,”
said Sen. Gonzalo Sen. Barrientos (D-Austin). ”But in this case, he`s a great man, a great Texan.”
