To those war veterans who have let it be known that this country may not have given enough continued recognition of their military service:

Be aware of what a wise poet with a keen knowledge of human nature and history advised when he long ago composed the following lines, inscribed on the wall of a fort on the island of Bermuda.

”God and the soldier alike we adore; in times of trouble, not before;

the troubles gone and all things righted; God is forgotten, the soldier slighted.”
