– Brian Cummins, Andrew-He beat Lockport 8-1 and Joliet West 12-1. In the two games he struck out 16, walked two, yielded one earned run and posted an ERA of 0.50. He also batted .385 in three games and had seven RBIs.
– Rick Gorecki, Oak Forest-The senior right-hander struck out 19 and allowed one hit in a 9-0 victory over Hillcrest Wednesday.
– Brett Malekovic, Stagg-The junior hit .857 in four games with two triples, three doubles, 13 RBIs and five runs scored.
SOFTBALL
– Dawn Karkoska, Morton-She won four games last week, yielding just four runs for an ERA of 0.60. She also struck out 25.
– Mary Wells, Rich East-She won three games on the mound and batted .400 with seven RBIs and two home runs.
TENNIS
– Jimmy Panagopoulos, West Aurora-The senior won the singles championship at Saturday`s Tom Pitchford Invitational.
TRACK AND FIELD
– April Nelson, East Aurora-She set a school record of 2:23 in winning the 800 meters at the Kane County Invitational. She also won the 400 meters and was on the winning 1,600-meter relay squad.
– Matt Blouin, Eisenhower-The senior set a meet record in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles at the Rich Central Invitational. He also won the 200 meters.
GYMNASTICS
– Ken Peter, Homewood-Flossmoor-He won the pommel horse competition at the SICA conference meet with a conference-record score of 9.25.
SOCCER
– Carrie Follenweider, Andrew-The sophomore goalie recorded three shutouts in four starts.
