– Barrington 7, Wheeling 6-Doug Anderson drove in the winning run in a two-run sixth inning, and winning pitcher Brent Glendining (10-1) struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh as Barrington (10-15, 4-12) prevailed in the Mid- Suburban North.

– Deerfield 11, Maine East 6-John Ottenfeld droved in three runs and Mike Schiller two as Deerfield (10-10, 9-5) clinched at least a share of the Central Suburban North title with the victory.

– Harlan 19, Fenger 2-Leonard Knight had six RBIs and a grand slam to power Harlan (19-8, 10-2 in the Public League Southwest).

– Juarez 14, Marshall 7-Winning pitcher Julio Molina had a two-run homer, Omar Ramirez was 3 for 4 with two RBIs, Jack Campuzano had two hits and two RBIs and David Sandoval belted a two-run homer as Juarez (28-4, 13-0) clinched the Public West.

– Lane 10, Clemente 0-Javier Diaz tossed a no-hitter, Rich Comia knocked in three runs and John Ripka and Jim Bach each had two hits as Lane Tech (13-1 in the Public North) tuned up for Wednesday`s title clash with Mather.

– Libertyville 12, North Chicago 6-Vic McFadden (3 for 3, two-run homer, two RBIs, five runs scored) led a four-homer barrage as Libertyville (23-4, 14-3), the Tribune`s No. 7-ranked team, clinched the North Suburban title. Brian Davis added a three-run blast and Matt Williams (three RBIs) and Craig Havlat hit two-run homers.

– Mather 12, Lake View 2-Mike Mueller (3 for 4, two-run homer, four RBIs) led Public League North co-leader Mather.

– Niles North 4, Lake Forest 0-Rodney Ruelas (5-1) pitched a two-hitter and contributed two hits, including a triple, for the Vikings (19-8, 10-7 in the North Suburban).

– Niles West 5-4, Glenbrook North 4-1-Brad Niedermaier picked up both wins as Niles West swept in Central Suburban action. Niles scored the winning run on a error in the eighth inning of the opener and Niedermaier pitched a four-hitter and struck out nine in the nightcap.

– Proviso West 6, York 1-Brian Wardell hit two home runs and drove in three runs for Proviso West (17-9, 9-9) in the West Suburban Silver. Paul Robinson homered and doubled for West. Alvie Shepherd threw a two-hitter while striking out 11.

– Simeon 14, Carver 3-Shawn Livsey (three hits, two doubles, three RBIs), Shawn Chambers (3 for 4, three RBIs), Angelo Lee (two hits, home run, three RBIs) and Ronald Davis (two hits, two RBIs) led No. 6 Simeon (26-2, 12-0) in the Public Southeast.

– Waukegan 12, New Trier 4-Mike Medel walloped a three-run homer and Rich Branaman added a two-run blast as Waukegan (22-5, 11-2) clinched a share of the Central Suburban South title.

– Driscoll Class A regional-Freshman Joe Kuball fired a no-hitter and Mike O`Connor and Jerry Ignatius had two hits and two RBIs apiece as Montini (18-9) blanked Walther Lutheran 11-0 in five innings. Luther North (13-14) eliminated Timothy Christian 6-1 as John Gallo doubled three times, scored twice and struck out six while on the mound. St. Benedict ousted North Shore County Day 11-1 as Rich Kaczmarski struck out seven in five innings and Isaias Soto homered and drove in three runs. Immaculate Conception defeated Francis Parker 5-2. Darrell Lumpkin drilled a two-run homer in the top of the seventh as Cathedral (3-12) beat St. Gregory 6-5 to claim the school`s first regional victory in any sport.

– Wauconda Class A regional-Aaron Bischanke, Ryan Walsh, Dan Leffelman and winning pitcher Mike Leyden (5-3) all had two hits as Harvard (13-12) rolled over Oregon 7-1. Rich Sanchez threw a three-hitter as North Boone (16-3)

dumped Winnebago 2-0. Mike Dennis ripped a solo home run and winning pitcher Jeff Toler added a triple as Richmond-Burton (7-13) ousted Stillman Valley 10-2.

SOFTBALL

– Carver 14, Corliss 2-Aaronna McGee had two doubles, two home runs and four RBIs to lift Carver (14-4, 10-2 in the Public Far South).

– Clemente 15, Wells 2-Rosa Awilda walloped three home runs and had six RBIs for Clemente in the Public North.

– Lake Forest 10, Niles North 2-Kellie Beckwith (15-3) tossed a two-hitter and struck out 15 as the Scouts (17-6, 12-5) won the North Suburban game.

– Lake Zurich 6, Grayslake 1-Lisa Lamantia (4 for 4, two RBIs) and Jenny Minster (3 for 4, three RBIs) led Lake Zurich (13-4, 8-4 in the Northwest Suburban). Pitcher Tammy Belmont tossed a three-hitter with eight strikeouts. – Lane 18, Prosser 5-Ilene Millan (4 for 4, home run, three RBIs), Dina Kaldis (two hits, two RBIs) and winning pitcher Esther Marron (two hits, two RBIs)

led the way as Lane (14-2, 12-0) clinched its fourth straight Public North title.

– Lindblom 26, Hyde Park 6-Tayana Davis cracked four home runs and drove in 10 runs for Lindblom (8-4 in the Public South-Central).

– Marshall 32, Collins 1-Antoinette Bunch went 4 for 4 with a grand slam and seven RBIs for Marshall (15-1, 11-0) in the Public League West.

– Oak Park 4, York 1-No. 10 Oak Park (22-4, 11-0) clinched the West Suburban Silver title as winning pitcher Laura Kolbusz threw a five-hitter and Dani Tyler hit a home run.

– Young 18, Near North 7-Sulema Campuzano went 4 for 4 with a grand slam and a double, finishing with six RBIs as Young (14-3, 11-1) claimed the Public League North Central victory.

– Genoa-Kingston Class A regional-Beth Russell tossed a three-hitter, Lori Pickle had two doubles and three RBIs and Kim Greer was 3 for 4 with two doubles and one RBI as Wheaton Christian (17-16) stopped Immaculate Conception 10-6. Also, Carrie Ramano picked up the victory as Timothy Christian (8-11)

defeated Elgin Academy 17-11.

– Marengo Class A regional-Meghan Kelley got the win and two hits as Woodlands (16-1) beat Rockford Lutheran 2-1. Belinda Hopp tossed a two-hitter and struck out seven and Missy Fluery (4 for 4, two three-run homers, eight RBIs) and Kim Childress (3 for 3, two doubles, four RBIs) led the offense as Hampshire (9-15) pounded South Beloit 25-3 in five innings.

SOCCER

– Glenbrook North 3, Glenbrook South 0-Emily Linklater made 16 saves in goal to get the shutout for Glenbrook North (10-5-1).

– Maine South 5, Deerfield 0-Maureen Nugent had two goals and Tracy Krahl, Monica Huettinger and Suzy Auge one each for Maine South (12-7-2, 7-0-2) in the Central Suburban. Goaltender Holly Francis earned the shutout.

– New Trier 8, Niles West 0-Emily Retterer scored three goals to pace the 10th-ranked Trevians (12-2-6, 7-0-2) in the Central Suburban.

VOLLEYBALL

– Niles West Invitational-Tom Hoff had 13 kills and Damon Harkey five as Maine South (29-2) beat Gordon Tech 15-5, 15-11. Sandburg (14-10) dropped IMSA 15-3, 15-5 behind Dan Ellis (22 assists). Addison Trail (19-6) defeated Holy Trinity 15-3, 15-5 at the Oak Park sectional behind Kurt Kriegler (nine kills) and Bill Zaborowski (six kills, two blocks). In other action, Alex Dimitrijevic had 13 kills and Joe Ramos added 18 service points as Maine East (28-1)

defeated Von Steuben 15-6, 10-15, 15-8 in the Maine West sectional. New Trier eliminated Niles West 15-13, 13-15, 17-15 behind Peter Mini (seven kills), Pat Kennedy (five kills) and Byran Kirchen (four kills, five blocks). Also, Downers Grove North (20-2) stopped Willowbrook 15-3, 15-3 in the Oak Park Sectional behind Omar Moran (12 kills, two aces) and Derek Gato (nine kills, three blocks).
