Lynette H. Seator, a Spanish professor at Illinois College in Downstate Jacksonville, traveled to the Soviet Union last month for the first Soviet-sponsored scholarly conference on women`s studies. Seator, who had proposed the conference to the Soviet Women`s Committee, said it was mutually beneficial: ”Women`s studies do not exist in the Soviet Union. They want to find out what is going on in the United States.” For the West: ”It`s a way to gather new data, contact a new culture and hear ideas that have been working.”
