Fred H. Dix, 80, a teacher at Lane Technical High School for 41 years, died Monday in Swedish Covenant Hospital. Mr. Dix, of the North Side, taught foundry classes at Lane before retiring in 1976. He also was co-owner of Dix Superior Aluminum Foundry, 1229 W. Cortland St., which operated from 1937 until it closed last month. He is survived by his wife, Loraine; three sons, Fred, Jerry and Robert; two daughters, Mary Destro and Joan Jakubowski; three brothers; three sisters; and 13 grandchildren. Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Hilary Catholic Church, 5600 N. Fairfield Ave.
