Jerome Holtzman`s column on June 11 made the strident allegation that the success of the Chicago Bulls was finally achieved when Michael Jordan stopped ”hogging” the ball. At first glance, his thesis appeared to be solely a self-indulgent, name-dropping expression of ”I told you so.” A second reading, however, revealed it to be a cogent observation of basketball and life.
Mr. Holtzman was, of course, correct in his assumption that teamwork is an essential aspect of success in all of life`s endeavors. Thanks for such a profound revelation about basketball, and for enlightening sports fans about the greater lessons of life.
