As a reader of progressive periodicals, I have read numerous articles about the post-war devastation found in Iraq. In each of these articles, the writers seem to be saying that these latest statistics and descriptions of destruction will surely be the ones that will cause the American people to realize that the United States` action was wrong. And yet, we see victory parade after victory parade.

And so, this letter is an open appeal to my countrymen.

Do any of you care about the tens of thousands of Iraqis killed or the tens of thousands expected to die from injury and disease? Do any of you care about the destruction of the country`s infrastructure and, in particular, its water treatment and sewage facilities? Do any of you care about the impending epidemics with virtually no ability of the health care system to respond?

Do any of you care that your country has committed these crimes against humanity?
