Fifty people have applied for the job of chief of the Carol Stream Fire Protection District, according to Richard Kammes, president of the district. He said that two of the trustees, Deldon Miller and Ralph Smoot, will do an initial review of the applications.
Miller said that he and Smoot will select a firm to review the candidates and make recommendations of top ones. Those candidates will be interviewed by the Board of Trustees, who will make a final decision.
No deadline has been set for hiring a replacement for Theodore Tokarski, who retires in August after 16 years as chief.
