Martin T. Strba, 68, a 28-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, died Tuesday in West Suburban Hospital Medical Center in Oak Park. Mr. Strba served in several police districts, including police headquarters at 11th and State Street. He retired from the department in 1984. A 32-year resident of Garfield Ridge, Mr. Strba was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Mt. Vernon VFW Post 2796. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine, and a daughter, Maxine Szymanski. There will be a prayer service in Ridge Funeral Home, 6620 W. Archer Ave., at 9 a.m. Friday followed by a mass in St. Daniel the Prophet Church, 5330 S. Nashville Ave.
