Sharon Cox`s article on babysitting (Style, July 3) was good as far as it went, but aspiring sitters should be very sure they or their parents know the family they are sitting for. Many young people advertise in their local papers and there is a good chance they could be called by total strangers. Not a good idea.
Sitters, sad to say, have been molested and/or accused of stealing or other things. Please, sitters, get references from someone you know and can trust.
I have several daughters and granddaughters who have been or are sitters, and this is an absolute requirement for them, as it certainly should be for the parents of the little ones entrusted to their care.
