Oakton Community College is accepting applications for the Open Door program, a tuition-free program for high school graduates with learning disabilities.
The program will offer students the opportunity to combine classroom training with work experience at area businesses. The classes, which begin Aug. 26, are funded by Oakton and the Private Industry Council of Northern Cook County.
Eligible applicants must have a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma and live in north or northwest suburban Cook County.
Students who attend the program at Oakton will be taught basic skills in communication and math. The participants will work half-days at area businesses to increase their knowledge of the business world.
