I saw Jim Borgman`s editorial cartoon (”Why ask why?”) in your July 5 issue. To his list of questions I`d consider adding: ”Why do some people insist on blaming beer for so many of society`s ills when the loss of self-discipline is the real culprit?” Take away all the beer in the world and people lacking self-discipline will simply find something else to abuse.
I guess this level of complexity doesn`t make for a nice, crisp, funny editorial cartoon at the expense of some beer company. Or maybe it just requires a more adept cartoonist.
