International traffic on European airlines fell 7.1 percent in May from a year ago, but picked up after the Persian Gulf war, the carriers` association said. The Association of European Airlines said May figures were up from a 24 percent loss in February, but a 12.3 percent drop was registered for the first five months of 1991. On North Atlantic routes, the average load factor increased by 2.6 percentage points after airlines reduced their fleet capacity by 7.4 percent.
