A memorial service for John W. Schmid, 33, will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Rhona Hoffman Gallery, 215 W. Superior St. He died of an AIDS- related illness July 8 in Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke`s Medical Center. Mr. Schmid was a feature writer and theater writer for Gay Chicago Magazine and for Chicago Outlines & Nightlines. A resident of the Rogers Park neighborhood, he taught for seven years at Roycemore School in Evanston. He was technical assistance coordinator for the Chicago Literacy Coordinating Center and was formerly director of development for Pegasus Players Theatre Company. Survivors include his parents, Will and Marion; a brother; and a sister.
