Corney John Ewert, 86, died Tuesday at the Oakton Pavillion in Des Plaines. Born in Chicago, he was an Oak Park resident for 50 years. He was the vice president of the Metal Box Co. in Franklin Park, where he worked as an engineer for 44 years. He won more than 200 medals for running, jumping and speed skating, including the Tribune`s 1935 Silver Skates award. There were no immediate survivors. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Drechsler-Brown Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St., Oak Park. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
