The Tribune`s article (”Wrangling a home for a horse,” July 21) on a mustang adoption program was disheartening. Writer Laurie Goering completely ignored the trauma that these poor animals have to endure.

After losing their freedom, the horses are auctioned off to be slaves. Their owners will use cruel methods to break their spirit and make them do as they are told. Instead of running free, these beautiful animals will be worked to the bone until they are no longer of any use.
