In an Op-Ed column on July 16, Charles J. Bussey proclaims: ”Simply put, liberalism is the conviction that for political power to be legitimate it must be derived from the consent of the people.”

Hmm. It seems I`ve read something like that before. ”The rule of liberty is that all just government derives its authority from the consent of the governed.” Conservative Republican Senator Albert J. Beveridge of Indiana said that on Sept. 6, 1898. I`m glad to see the liberals have finally caught up.
