So Ted Turner is replacing all of the cows on his 105,000-acre Montana ranch with 7,000 bison because they`re ”prettier and treat the environment better” (Newsmakers, July 26). Well isn`t that a simplistic answer to a complex problem?
To callously state that ”buffaloes are better-looking than cows-because they don`t have fat all over their butts,” is remarkably ignorant and superficial.
Cattle do not pollute and overgraze the land without help from fraudulent and over-zealous ranchers such as Mr. Turner. Perhaps the esteemed bison will fare better on this colorized version of a ranch, but in black and white, it doesn`t look good.
