Police and prosecutors Tuesday obtained a court order allowing them to take blood and hair samples from a Rogers Park man accused of the stabbing death of a woman whose body was found in a North Side community garden.

Ralph Andrews, 46, of 1916 W. Birchwood Ave., who worked as a maintenance man at the Pottawattomie Park Gardens, appeared before Cook County Circuit Judge Robert Bastone, who issued the order.

Prosecutors said they need the samples to compare with blood and other evidence found on items they have collected during their investigation into the Aug. 13 slaying of Virginia Griffin, 44.
