Holland ”Holly” Coors, of the Golden, Colo., brewery family, has received an honorary doctorate of political science from the Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala City, for helping women entrepreneurs. Coors is founder and president of Women of Our Hemisphere Achieving Together. In one project, Coors delivered 15 sewing machines to a women`s center in Santo Domingo so women could sell items they had stitched. This October, the president of the Dominican Republic will rename the cooperative the Holly Coors Sewing Center.
