Cicero native JoAnne Akalaitis is adding yet another feather to her theatrical cap: She has been named to succeed Joseph Papp as artistic director of the New York Shakespeare Festival. ”I am not Joe Papp in a skirt, and I don`t want to be,” says the Akalaitis, whose Chicago debut came last year directing ”`Tis a Pity She`s a Whore” for the Goodman Theatre. Akalaitis says the new post ”is not a career move for me. It is a life commitment.”
