House Bill 847 contains a provision that will allow Illinoisans to contribute as they file their income tax returns to a newly established fund for Illinois veterans of the Persian Gulf conflict. I agree with the wonderful sentiment, but what about the veterans of past conflicts? I believe that it would be a more fitting gesture to include veterans of all conflicts. A veteran is a veteran regardless of which conflict he was in. They were sent by our government.
