While admiring the exterior of the new Harold Washington Library last week, I couldn`t help wondering whether the late mayor would be disturbed that in a city facing one of the country`s most severe literacy problems, the largest circulating public library in the U.S. will close at 7 p.m. and have no Sunday hours.
