Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
As Anna Quindlen accurately observes (Op-Ed, Oct. 1), ”Any drugstore clerk in America can (dispense condoms). . . .”
Because condoms are indeed readily available, why not allow schools to teach a better lesson: ”Schools don`t do condoms. We know they are available; we know many of you are sexually active, but schools will not promote a lifestyle that is not in your best interest.”
By burdening schools with non-teaching responsibilities simply because schools are central to children`s lives, we have detracted considerably from their ability to do what schools are intended to do-to teach. With regard to the distribution of condoms, schools can teach a valuable lesson by not making them available.
