Although Mundelein has grown dramatically in the last 10 years, the village`s computer system has failed to keep pace, according to Finance Committee Chairman James Keeney.
”We need a new computer system now . . . there`s just no way to avoid it,” Kenney told trustees this week.
The Village Board voted to spend up to $24,200 in consulting fees to the village`s auditor, Peat Marwick Co., to analyze the village`s computer requirements and recommend a new process.
The auditing firm was selected, according to Finance Department head Mary Kay Hatton, ”because there is less chance of having vendor-bias if an outside auditor is in on the selection process.”
The new computer system will handle the village`s finances and the needs of the clerk`s office, Keeney said.
