Did I read it wrong (Friday section, Oct. 4) or did the University of Chicago actually feature a display of ”100 discarded refrigerator doors” as part of its centennial celebration?

If the expense of this exhibit came out of taxpayer money or from arts grants, in either case, all I can say is what a waste. How do they fit this in with the ivy-covered towers and the Nobel laureates?

Or is ittheir idea of a huge joke on the public?
