Your editorial ”Extracting oil from Arctic sliver” states that ”the industry has shown it can protect plants and wildlife while extracting oil”

from Alaska`s North Slope. If you saw ”60 Minutes” on Nov. 3, then you realize how naive that view is.

Americans are like crack mothers when it comes to oil consumption-they just can`t get enough. The Tribune is telling Americans to continue snorting- future generations be damned. In parts of California some people can`t go outside when the smog is thick. And people still call the environmentalists crazy?

When we are long dead, will our great grandkids wish we`d treated the wilderness of Alaska with the reverence and respect we show our sports cars?

Will they wish that the editors of your paper and others had tried a little harder to find out if the oil companies` claims were true?
